Celeste is a quiet, innocent girl. Her father left when she was eleven, and she hasn't seen or heard from him since. She lives with her grandparents at their massive house in Sycamore Park, a suburb of Ashgen.

A shy and awkward girl, Celeste spends most of her time in her private world of books and video games and her own vivid imagination. She doesn't seem to be lonely, though she doesn't have many friends; she hates school because she sees so many of the kids there being cold, cynical, or downright cruel, and that's something she just can't take. It seems neither her family nor her peers understand her: though she was very close to her father, her grandparents mostly leave her to her own devices because she's so stubborn when they try to draw her out of her shell. They are concerned about her tendency to be a loner and a bit of a social misfit, while the other kids at school seem to sense too much distance between themselves and the smart, painfully quiet girl. And so Celeste has passed most of her life in solitude, until one day an old friend of her father's called to speak to her....

Celeste is petite, about 5'1" with a slight frame. In a realistic style (as described in the story) she has brown eyes and light brown hair, while in the anime stylization I use for some pictures, her hair is light pink and her eyes are teal. Her hair is cut a little above her shoulders; she usually pulls it back into a little ponytail, though much of it still falls down and frames her face, and she has a little puff of bangs. She always dresses modestly and never fashionably, usually in T-shirts, sweaters, jeans or her favorite pair of overalls, and she likes vivid colors and pastels. Her size, style, innocent-looking features, and the fact that she doesn't wear make-up leave her looking very childlike, and she is often mistaken for being several years younger than she is.
