Meredith Cecile is upbeat and talkataive and much more extraverted than most of her other sisters (except Melissa, who's a close second). She loves being in the spotlight. She's been into theater since she started taking theater day camp during the summer in elementary school, and is well known as a talented actress in school, landing key roles in performances done by a local community theater group for kids, and then in high school plays. She's graceful under pressure, though she was too much of a theater groupie to be in the popular clique in high school, her bright and cheerful nature has earned her many friends. As she's grown she's also gotten a little bit wild.
Knowing that she is the star of the show, Meredith does sometimes get a bit full of herself, but if she does act too proud, her sisters will put her in her place. People are inclined to assume that the Septs are all alike and that the whole famous Carlson family is snobby, so they don't want Meredith to add to that mistaken image. With the occasional reining in of her pride by her family, however, Meredith's ego has deflated a bit over the years. It's her unwavering friendliness for which she is best known now: people have said that they could easily go up and talk to her even if they had never spoken to her before, though the odds are that Meredith already struck up a conversation with them first. Unlike most of her sisters, Meredith enjoys the attention given to her family by the public and the media. Either she or Mary usually ends up being the one answering strangers who are bold enough to approach them when they're all together in public, which is fine with the other Septs, who'd just as soon avoid the attention. For Meredith, though, it's just another chance to let her bubbly attitude shine in the spotlight.
